Custom Decks and Steps by Green Spaces Landscaping Green Spaces Landscaping takes pride in our ability to turn outdoor spaces into stunning environments, and this latest 'Custom Decks and Steps' is just one more demonstration of our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Situated in the scenic Mercer Island neighborhood, the involved the construction of a customized multi-level deck and a series of natural stone steps that seemed to be part of the original landscape. Using only the best materials, such as sustainably harvested cedar and high-quality bluestone, we concepted a deck that was not only meant to appeal to the eye, but one in which the family could gather and entertain outdoors. The design utilizes the warm color of the wood deck and the cooler tones of the natural stone in a balanced contrast that harmoniously combines with the surrounding greenery. Our team faced some site challenges, including uneven terrain, mature vegetation and the need to ensure certain plant material was neither adversely affected or impacted from our construction efforts. Through pre-planning, we were able to creatively and structurally shape the spaces into functionality, both visually and structurally. To ensure stability and strength of the steps, a portion of the worked areas were assigned as retaining walls, while also creating a planting area that originally was filled with native plantings that provided for an overall lush environment. The outcome was an absolutely stunning outdoor area that our clients fully appreciated. The custom deck provides multiple seating areas while allowing for visual views of the surrounding areas and, the stone step features, considered safe and easy access to the property garden areas.
