Modern Hillside Home With Deck Completed by: Mooch Exterior Designs, Inc. The owners of the home in La Jolla turned to Mooch Exterior Designs, Inc. to redevelop their contemporary hillside home into an outdoor living space. The was titled 'Modern Hillside Home with Deck' as an example of our experience with high-quality design solutions and comprehensive services for landscaping s. The featured a multi-tiered deck using sustainably harvested ipe wood that seamlessly integrated the architectural style of the home and created an outdoor living area for family and friends to gather and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean. We landscaped with drought-tolerant native plants and included a colorful combination of succulents along with decorative grasses for a variety of textures and colors in the finished garden that maintained great visual interest without significantly increasing maintenance time. One of the challenges we faced was the steep grade of the property, which required expert grading and construction of retaining walls to manage erosion and create additional level space. We created high-quality natural stone retaining walls that suited the landscape while providing a significant and lasting solution to the grade change. In conclusion, the end of the produced a stunning landscape incorporating functionality with attractive plants. Our clients were thrilled with the outdoor living area connection, the abundance of plant choices, and the view and commented it exceeded their expectations.
