Munsey Park Residence

Munsey Park Residence Working with Morell Landscape Associates has been a rewarding exercise in excellent landscaping. Although a superb and lovely residence located in one of Long Island's most charming neighborhoods, the Munsey Park Residence was designed to embrace the beauty of its surroundings and improve the presentation of the property. This particular landscape came with the challenge of sloped terrain, which required something creative to elevate or harmonize the outdoor space into one that was flat and functional. Combining natural stone retaining walls with terraces built to accommodate the elevation and elevation change, a path was cleared to ensure all materials related visually, and were durable. Bluestones and granite were chosen for the elevations, and they were locally sourced as an additional layer of durability and continuity. In the end, a multi-tiered garden that addressed drainage issues, and provided transferring experience from the home to the well landscaped yard, was achieved. The design included an assortment of native plantings, including flowering perennials; ornamental grasses; and evergreen selections that promoted interests year-round. Selection process emphasized low maintenance plant materials, which would allow the homeowners to enjoy their space without stress from upkeep. The design also included a custom-built fire pit, surrounded by seating of natural stone, promoting social gatherings under the stars in the outside landscape. An elegant path made of decomposed granite leads guests through the garden, aided by solar pathway lighting that ensured safety and ambiance throughout the evening. Morell, the team that built this landscape, worked with the homeowners to devise innovative solutions to each challenge, paying attention to detail throughout the process. The landscape and experience have ultimately achieved the goals of the homeowner and are everything they envisioned, as they now have an oasis in Munsey Park.
