Redbud Development Glenmont Outdoor Kitchen & Patio Located in Glenmont, this outdoor kitchen and patio designed and constructed by Redbud Development showcases both quality craftsmanship and exemplary landscaping design. The spans over 1,200 square feet of outdoor living space, melding function and beauty, intended to enhance the client’s outdoor living experience, while accommodating outdoor entertaining. The centerpiece of this beautiful outdoor living space is the outdoor kitchen, which features high-end stainless steel appliances, such as a gas grill, refrigerator, and custom-built stone pizza oven. A large granite countertop surrounds the kitchen, providing ample preparation space, and inviting family and friends to the bar stool seating. The façade of the kitchen towers is made of locally sourced natural stone; not only is it durable but complements the landscape and its natural surroundings. The designers chose large format porcelain tiles, providing a modern, long-lasting, slip resistant surface in a design that mimics a natural stone appearance, for the expansive patio space. The porcelain not only allows for outdoor entertaining, but also provides for nighttime entertaining with integrated LED lighting, creating a magical transformation of the patio space in the evenings. One of the greatest challenges of the Glenmont was the natural topography of the site with its sloped terrain. Using engineered multi-level design and material manipulation allowed for less erosion of the existing materials while maximizing functional, usable space; natural boulders were used to create retaining walls, forming structure for the landscape and enhancing the rustic beauty of the outdoor space. Landscaping features, such as perennial gardens and evergreen hedges for privacy and protection, were chosen to provide year-round color and texture to invite tranquility and beauty to this outdoor kitchen/patio space. A fire pit with conversation seating accentuates evening relaxation for the clients and their family and friends. Our clients were beyond pleased with the final outcome; they now have a diverse outdoor living space that is an extension of their home.
