Located on a large site, this combines s that feature new landscaping that is designed to meet the challenges of the site, and contemporary coastal living. Utilizing native plant species like bougainvillea, sea oats, and palm trees, the design showcases a wonderful spectrum of native flora which is not only beautiful but hardy and vigorous, incorporating plants that adapt to the salty air and sandy soils. Each plant selection was tailored specifically by DWY Landscape Architects to be sustainable and low maintenance, which paralleled the clients request for a green landscape. To address the struggles presented by the coastal winds and the possibility of erosion, the team employed an advanced drainage system and sourced high-quality materials locally. Permeable pavers are a sustainable option that boosts outdoor pathways while also aiding in proper water flow and allowing rainwater to return to the earth. One of the more eye-catching features of the is custom fire pit area with weather-resistant seating flanking it, to create a welcoming entertaining space. Much of the landscape is lined with ambient lighting that enhances the textures and colors of the plantings and adds a magical quality to evening gatherings. The end product that became 'Casey Key Modern' is a beautiful outdoor space that not only accomplishes the vision of the client but helps solidify the story of the home as a whole.
