Tiny Backyard by Living Earth Designs Located in the lively community of Littleton, Living Earth Designs' 'Tiny Backyard' converted a small outdoor space into a beautiful oasis of serenity and nature. This showed our commitment to quality and creativity in design, as well as our versatility in landscaping through the challenges of a limited service area. The began with extensive consultation with the homeowner, who expressed the intent to create a multifunctioning space suitable for an outdoor retreat and a space to invite friends and family over to visit. Our site team examined the scope of the site, from a site visit, and quickly acknowledged the ability to create an efficient design that felt polished, functional, and grossly reasonable in harmony with nature. In addition to creating charm in the area we also designed a series of planting landscapes for purpose driven goals in the design. We designed and installed a custom stone patio consisting of locally-sourced flagstone that created a warm and hospitable surface for gatherings to be enjoyed. Additionally, we designed and installed a modern, sleek firepit for leisure warmth on special evenings outside transforming the patio into a relaxing retreat beneath the stars. We designed a series of garden beds directly surrounding the patio consisting of native plants and perennials that would be aesthetically pleasing to maintain in this climate. The homeowner also had a desire to create use of vertical space for growing purposes, which was a challenge because of the size of the yard. We designed and installed a vertical garden wall with drip irrigation to introduce greenery vertically in a way that is practical for growing while not taking up valuable ground space. This wall supported not only visual impact but also improved air quality and habitat for native pollinators. The final outcome was stunning. The design took a mostly abandoned yard and transformed it into a retreat space that felt serene, turn-key and functional, while maintaining its sense of nature and tranquility for years to come! Our time and craftsmanship could be felt from the homeowner who could use their restored effective backyard retreat for just steps away from their house.
