Our design featured clean basalt pavers that connected the different garden spaces while also providing an overall sense of order and refinement. The design prominently displayed a custom water feature that served as the centerpiece of the space, creating peaceful sounds that were pleasant to our clients while working with a number of the garden spaces, enhancing the overall outdoor experience. One of the challenges we faced in this was the slope of the property. The slope required attention to detail in the planning, grading, and layout of the garden to avert issues with drainage and usability during all parts of the year. Our adoption of an overall drainage approach allowed us to circumvent any potential flooding for the garden and carefully managed the longevity of the site features. The plant selection was designed to have interest year-round based on vibrant perennial flowers, low-maintenance shrubbery, and ornamental grasses that danced with the breezes. Additionally, we paid careful attention to sustainability with respect to planting and incorporated a systemic plant selection relative to drought resistance, all while maintaining a fresh approach to planning for the climate of Houston. The final result is a remarkable landscape that presents a modern aesthetic while providing a respite from city life. Our homeowner was excited all of the finished work with respect to their final design including entertaining family and friends around the new fire pit or inviting spaces incorporated throughout the design.
