Located in one of Houston's prettiest neighborhoods, this was a great opportunity that required numerous planning and execution hours to maintain the original integrity of a historic property while extending the outdoor spaces. We included a blend of native plantings with ornamental trees and flower beds that represent the different ecologies of Houston for this . Drought-tolerant plants such as Texas sage and lantana were thoughtfully chosen by the Moss Landscaping team to achieve a landscape with sustainability that can thrive in Houston's climate. Locally sourced flagstone of diverse sizes was utilized for pathways which provide rustic beauty while functioning as durable and low maintenance throughout its life. The main improvement opportunity identified at the start was the conditions of the unfinished site with varying elevations. Innovative grading solutions were required along with the installation of short retaining walls to create a tiered garden effect. Ultimately, the entire landscape could be flattened relative to the entrance and access to the home would be much easier. The tiered garden also provides an enhancement to the landscape view. Our team installed a thoughtful irrigation system that carefully considered the plant species in the garden and optimizes plant growth and water savings. The final result has been a striking garden that is filled with lively colors and textures, providing curb appeal that invites owners, guests, and neighbors to enjoy the serenity of the outdoor . Along with the arranged seating areas including custom benches and storage sheds with a gazebo, there are great spots for relaxation and reflection.
