Olmos Park Back Yard Xeriscape Leifeste Landscape Design is proud to present the Olmos Park Back Yard Xeriscape, a yard renovation that embodies the beauty of sustainability. Located in Olmos Park, this shares an innovative approach to drought tolerant landscaping that is ideal for the unique climate of San Antonio and its surrounding areas. The design incorporates a combination of resilient native plants, such as Texas sage, blackfoot daisy, and red yucca, that require little water. These hardy beauties also attract local pollinators like butterflies and bees, promoting a biodiverse garden. To provide appropriate visual interest, we included ornamental grasses and boulders that reflect the natural topography of the unique area. One of the challenges faced during the was the existing quality of soil and the significant amendment necessary for healthy plant growth. Our team undertook a thorough soil processing to provide structural amendments for proper drainage without sacrificing nutrients. Watering initializes plant growth, so we incorporated a drip irrigation system to provide seamless deep watering directly to roots and eliminate wasted water while ensuring longevity of the lawn. The rendered design was an enticing outdoor haven featuring meandering natural stone pathways inviting exploration and relaxation. Included was a cozy seating space amongst the creating entertaining while effectively tying the seating and xeriscape gardens together inviting enjoyment of the beauty from their backyard throughout the year. The final product amazed our clients while providing a showcase of eco-friendly, sustainable landscaping.
