Covering the beautiful neighborhoods from Aptos to Menlo Park, we aimed to make this home a retreat that fits the lifestyle and energy of the homeowners. It started with a landscape assessment, where they determined both sites' strengths that could be improved on and what wasn't working, like uneven ground, poor drainage, and so on. To address these challenges, our experienced team designed a tiered garden plan that leveraged locally sourced stone retaining walls to not only structure the site but also give an old-world charm to the niche. Easterly focused on a selection of drought-resistant plants that do well in the California climate with blooms that blossom throughout the seasons. We selected sustainable materials like a bio mulch and permeable paving stones to make the property as functional as possible while considering its environmental impact. We designed an expansive flagstone patio to provide a warm outdoor entertainment area complete with a built-in fire pit for family gatherings and evenings spent outdoors. We needed to install an advanced irrigation system to manage the water appropriately but without wasting a single drop. Not only does this attention to detail provide comfort to the new landscape, it is also an important part of our environmentally responsible policies. The involved constant communication with the client to ensure that design decisions matched expectations. The result is an incredible place that effortlessly combines nature with sophistication, pairing lush landscaping with textured hardscaping and intimate seating areas that beckon you to sit back, relax and enjoy.
