Outline: Construction of Retaining Wall by Citruscapes Lawn & Landscaping The staff of Citruscapes Lawn & Landscaping has accomplished the beautiful construction of a retaining wall that has transformed a sloped back yard found in Inverness into a great functional and nice outdoor experience. The team worked with high quality, locally sourced, natural stone to build the wall, which provided for a durable surface that was also pleasing to the surrounding landscaping. The initially faced challenges of an unlevel surface with poor drainage; however, engineering solutions related to the uneven surface area, as well as good drainage options would provide a little remedial work and ensure the wall remained stable and intact over the long term. After proper excavation and grading of the surface, and establishing a solid surface underneath the wall, the team correctly fashioned the wall's structure to include drainage options (i.e., weep holes with gravel backfill) to facilitate water runoff. The team produced a well-constructed retaining wall that not only highlighted the surroundings appealingly, but also direct needs including retention of landscaping above the wall. The team utilized planters integrated at the top of the wall to include colorful floral displays where the planters displayed a highly attractive environment. The client was ecstatic the overall transformation, indicating that the wall and planters provided value to their home, as well as highlighted outdoor space for special occasions.
