New Home & Patio Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia Architectural/Design: High Rock Land & Hardscapes High Rock Land & Hardscapes began with a blank canvas in the heart of Greensboro when designing the surrounding outdoor space for the 'New Home & Patio' . This ambitious , aimed to compliment a newly built home for the client while connecting to the natural beauty surrounding Browns Summit, Summerfield, and beyond. This included a large patio detailed with high-end Belgard Pavers, known for both strength and beauty. Machine-laid, these pavers created a very symmetric visual design and were ultimately the focal point of the outdoor area. Along with the patio we added green, easy-to-care-for landscaping with flowers that will return each year and thrive in the local climate, thanks to careful selection of native plants. Ornamental grasses, showy perennials and flowering shrubs were placed here and there for a splash of color throughout the changing seasons. One of the biggest hurdles was the steep slope of the land. We seamlessly created a tiered garden design using natural stone retaining walls for function and aesthetics installed by our experienced team. Not only do the walls work to deter erosion, but they seem to complement the home’s architecture with their rustic nature. Aside from the hardscaping & plant selections, we scarified / placated ambient lighting all around the patio. Energy-efficient LED fixtures were integrated into the landscaping to showcase the plant beauty while also providing an inviting atmosphere for evening gatherings. Our work came together to create a beautiful outdoor living space that the client had never imagined would be so stunning. The patio provides the perfect space to entertain friends and family, or a quiet escape for evaluating a long day. The client was really happy with the job and the comments the quality of workmanship and the garden transformation were really positive.
