Focused on functionality and aesthetic, the areas of outdoor living specific to this consisted of multi-family areas; having serviced and encompassed the greater jurisdictions of Browns Summit, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, we got to work. The scope of the also included large open green areas with manicured lawns, flower beds and seasonal plantings that bring additional colour through the seasons. We used native, water-storing plants that look great but take in far less water. Natural stone paths and patios were used to create welcoming areas for relaxing and socializing that further bridged the divide between hardscape and nature. Our biggest challenge was the site, having to come up with creative solutions to ensure grading, drainage and accessibility succeeded at the same time. A skilled team leveled the ground and laid down a sturdy base that would hold the new landscaping while preventing erosion. We specifically chose materials that would be harmonious with the local architecture and used local stone to blend in with the local area. Ultimately, they ended up with a beautiful outdoor space that not only increased the value of the home, but improved the lifestyle of everyone who lived in it. The transformation has exceeded the client's expectations and their comments reflect how the new landscape encourages interaction and creates a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
