Detail: Stone Path with Plantings by Rock Water Farm Rock Water Farm is excited to share our new landscaping , "Stone Path with Plantings," located in Aldie, VA. This converted the typical backyard into a relaxing outdoor space to blend form, function, and nature. This features a custom-designed stone path that gently winds through the yard with locally-sourced flagstone. Each stone was purposefully hand-selected for its unique texture and color to fit seamlessly within the surrounding landscape. The path is an all-weather, low-maintenance option for navigating through the garden while providing a rustic feel that fits with the style of the home. To increase visual stimulation within the pathway, we planted different perennial plantings along both sides of the path. Different native species of plants were intentionally selected based on their seasonal colors and ability to attract local pollinators, including daylilies and lavender. In addition to surface-level visual interest, our design focused on dimensions and shape of the plantings, creating biodiversity and habitat of the backyard. Throughout the , challenges with grading of the site and existing tree roots involved careful planning and anticipation. Our hard-working crew spent several hours grading the area and creating proper drainage to avoid standing water before a planting could occur. We wanted to avoid any pooling of water that would damage the path or plants. At completion, our clients were thrilled with the end result and excited to finally enjoy a beautiful space to walk and entertain guests.
