About This Project

The Prime Time Commercial project embodies a thoughtful renovation of a 2,000 square foot, single-story commercial building originally constructed in 1964. Situated in New Bern, NC, this building had remained vacant for several years, and its transformation marks a significant step towards revitalizing the surrounding area. The renovation's primary objective was to create two distinct office spaces: one designated for a radio station and the other for our architectural and design + build firm. To achieve this, the project involved a careful reconfiguration of the interior layout. A few existing walls were removed to enhance the flow of the space, allowing natural light to flood in through new windows that were strategically placed to brighten up the previously dim environment. The exterior walls were furred out and insulated to improve energy efficiency while maintaining the integrity of the original structure. The craftsmanship in this renovation is highlighted by the polished terrazzo flooring, which has been restored to a stunning finish, serving as a striking centerpiece that adds character to the offices. The choice of materials reflects a blend of modern design principles with the building’s historical essence, ensuring that the renovation respects its architectural heritage while providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment for its new occupants. The final outcome is a harmonious balance between form and function, featuring two well-defined office spaces that promote creativity and collaboration. Each office is equipped with contemporary amenities while retaining the charm of the original construction. The revitalization of the Prime Time Commercial building not only enhances the local landscape but also contributes to the growing vibrancy of the community, making it a noteworthy addition to New Bern’s commercial offerings.
