Back Yard Get-Away by Pony Lawncare and Landscaping Located in a peaceful neighborhood in Powell, Ohio, Pony Lawncare and Landscaping took an existing yard that had fallen into disarray and transformed it into an amazing getaway. Serving the greater Columbus area, including the cities of Dublin, Groveport, Westerville, and Galena, we accepted the challenge of looking at a backyard design that had succumbed to overgrown shrubs that had taken over an uneven lawn area. First, we cleaned the site and removed the unwanted plants., in addition to maintaining the existing, mature trees that provided shade and character to the yard area. To prepare for the features that would follow, we leveled the ground in preparation for future design features. We installed a beautiful, multi-leveled patio using natural stone pavers. The pavers not only complemented the home itself, they also provided the homeowner durability and a Mediterranean look to the design. To create the perfect setting for evening entertaining, we built a selection of comfortable seating around the central fire pit area. After surrounding the fire pit with seating, we installed landscape beds, which were filled with a variety of native plants. Included in the design were colorful perennials, and ornamental grasses to enhance the color in the backyard, along with supporting local wildlife. One of our primary design challenges was with drainage in the yard. Our team completed detailed assessments to identify the areas in which we needed drainage assistance. We created a French drain system to drain rainwater away from the patio and shrubs, and support the drainage of the landscaping area. The end result was amazing. The homeowner was delighted with their new outdoor space. The yard area combined functionality with aesthetics in a way that transformed the suburban back yard into an escape for the whole family.
