The transformed a regular-sized backyard into a beautiful outdoor space that incorporated nature into everyday living. The began with a detailed site analysis where we assessed the unique characteristics of the as well as opportunities and challenges. We brought the site into harmony by choosing to include native plant species that flourish in this climate, creating habitat and enhancing biodiversity while optimizing water consumption. The design is a great combination of greenery, including California poppy and lavender, providing seasonal color and fragrance throughout the year. A principal focus of the Noe Valley is the custom-built cedar deck that serves as a place to entertain and to take in the surroundings. Constructed with sustainably-sourced materials, the deck included a fire pit for chilly nights spent outside. The materials were procured locally and provide a modern visual aesthetic to the outdoor space. As part of the , we also created permeable pathways using stone materials, local granite, and river rock, designed for appropriate drainage while adding a visual texture. The Noe Valley had several challenges, including the steep slope of the site and low sunlight in certain parts of the space. Our team worked carefully to work through these challenges, using tiered planters that provided additional planting surface area, while creating an eye-catching feature of the landscape. The implementation of tiered planters opened up planting opportunities for sun-loving plants and maintained the integrity of the landscape. The successful outcome of the Noe Valley is a beautiful, eco-friendly escape that meets the client's vision and exceeds their expectations. The completed backyard landscape offers an inviting escape, or potentially a gathering space, illustrating the quality of craftsmanship, and sense of place with environmental sensibility, that we are known for.
