About This Project

The Timbertech Antigua Gold with Antique Palm project, located in Urbandale, IA, transformed an outdated and awkward deck into a stunning outdoor oasis. Initially, the deck featured a perplexing middle stair landing with two sets of stairs originating from a single point, which not only compromised the flow of the space but also created an uncomfortable transition between the main deck and the hot tub area below. The original cedar decking was riddled with soft spots, necessitating a complete overhaul to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal. Our team meticulously removed the old decking and designed a new layout that enhances both functionality and style. We opted for Timbertech’s PVC Capped Composite Decking, with Antigua Gold as the primary color, beautifully accented by a double picture frame of Antique Palm. This choice not only complements the Tuscany-style architecture of the home but also promises durability and low maintenance, making it a perfect fit for the client's lifestyle. The redesign included a staircase with a landing that resembles a bridge, facilitating a seamless and comfortable transition to the hot tub area. Additionally, we upgraded the railing system to Westbury’s Full Aluminum Railing, featuring the Tuscany Series with a Double Top Rail, which provides both elegance and safety. To further enhance the usability of the deck, we incorporated a convenient Drink Rail at the top of the railing, allowing guests to enjoy refreshments while overlooking the inviting pool. Completed in the winter of 2019, this deck resurfacing project not only resolved the previous design flaws but also elevated the overall aesthetic and enjoyment of the outdoor space. The new configuration and selection of materials resulted in a clean, sophisticated look that harmonizes beautifully with the home’s design, making it an ideal setting for relaxation and entertaining during the pool season. The outcome has been a resounding success, showcasing the perfect blend of craftsmanship, style, and functionality.
