Planting Around a Swimming Pool in Modern Preston Hollow by The Plant Concierge Modern Preston Hollow is a highly desirable area. This beautiful , done by The Plant Concierge, is a transforming backyard in to an oasis filled with bliss, relaxation and beauty. Designed as a modern backyard, this includes a harmonious blend of native plantings, beautiful hardscape, and practical outdoor living space designed to enhance the homeowner’s lifestyle. Initially, we chose a plant palette that is resistant to drought, consisting of colorful, ornamental grasses and hardy succulents to not only reflect the clean lines of the pool design, but also allow the plants to thrive within the Texas climate. Using the natural stone pavers gives us a practical but elegant path along to the pool, enhancing the clean lines of the pool and providing a nice contrast against the vivid greens of the plants. One of our main challenges was the length of the planting space between the pool and one of the property lines. In order to maximize the visual interest of the space, we decided to build layer/layered planting beds. This approach creates visual dimension without being too intrusive because the area is so skinny. We even took the opportunity to put in soft landscape lighting to bring some of the features to life after dark and to create a sense of evening magic when hosting gatherings. Honestly, this turned out beautifully. The blend of clean lines, natural materials, and the selection/arrangement of plants came together to create a luxurious feel and a retreat. Our client was very pleased with the , and complimented us on how the landscaping did not feel as a separate entity but seamlessly integrated and enhanced the beauty of their pool and outdoor living space.
