info: Hilltop Garden by Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens Deep in the beautiful hills of Santa Ynez, the Hilltop Garden is an exquisite showcase of the craftsmanship of Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens. Denise transformed this vast hillside into a stunning paradise that serves the sweet communities of Ballard, Buellton, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Santa Barbara, and Solvang. A unique selection of native drought-tolerant, dry-climate planting was complemented by perennial flowering plants, as well as ornamental grasses. Denise had a lovely handmade stone pathway installed that weaves through the garden (a beautiful path is a focal point) that invites wanderers to stroll through the peaceful space. By utilizing locally sourced materials, the on one hand maximized beauty while on the other hand minimizing environmental impact. Steep topography posed a real challenge on the , as it required innovation to ensure effective drainage that would both meet performance targets while also preserving the existing plant life from erosion. It did this through careful planning, with terraces placed well by Denise who took on the role of an architect to create a space that fitted well and worked well with the surrounding hills. The positive outcome of the Hilltop Garden is a multi-dimensional, dynamic landscape that blends seamlessly into its natural context. The client was over the moon with what we achieved with him, saying that the garden had now become another part of home. It adds to the appearance of their land and offers a sustainable oasis that draws in wildlife and supports biodiversity. Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens has excelled once again with the Hilltop Garden, true to her craft and to her heart as a budding creator of outdoor spaces where friends and family will be inspired by the beauty and ease of gathering there.
