Santa Barbara Coast by Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens Situated along the stunning coast in Santa Barbara, the landscaping 'Santa Barbara Coast' planned by Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens, and her client, would enhance their outdoor space. Denise served the charming communities of Ballard, Buellton, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez and Solvang while utilizing her experience to build a beautiful coastal retreat and an outdoor space that was both beautiful, functional and sustainable. The landscaping consisted of a gorgeous palette of drought-tolerant plants that were specifically selected for their uniqueness in their coastal, drought-tolerant climate and also for their low-water requirement. We selected native plants like California poppies, succulents, and ornamental grasses and arranged them in an eye-catching way that contributes to a lush, colorful sense of place in the landscape. We also curated seating areas and pathways made of natural stone sourced locally to add function and a natural feel. One of the big considerations in designing and building this was the sandy soil and high winds that are common along the coastal areas. Denise successfully tackled this challenge by installing soil amendments to help support growth and keep the plants stable. Installing windbreaks using shrubs and trees as warning would shield them from winds while maintaining the stunning ocean views. In the end, the overall was spectacular. The landscape was constructed as a relaxing retreat with a winding pathway leading to a seating area that perfectly frames the ocean view. The client was thrilled with the combination of texture, color and function that elevated the outdoor living space and property values. The thoughtfulness, and skilled craftsmanship, Denise brought to the process was noticeable from the design phase to the final installation. The referred to as 'Santa Barbara Coast' expresses how beautiful the coastal climates can be while also achieving an outdoor living space as the curated craft of Agua Dulce Garden which brings nature to artistry.
