Mesquite Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens The beautiful ‘Mesquite’ landscaping shown here, in the heart of Santa Ynez, was created by Denise at Agua Dulce Gardens. The soul of this magnificent landscape remodel covered a large parcel, blending form with function and nature with architecture for their clients in Ballard, Buellton, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Santa Barbara and Solvang. This eco-neighbourhood uses a mixture of native drought -tolerant succulents, herbs and grasses which provide a roman mosaic of colour whilst creating a lively oasis. By incorporating river stones sourced close to the area for the pathways, they were able to simultaneously create an attractive yet ecological and sustainable answer to the challenge presented. Reclaimed wood seating nooks call for relaxation, boulders are set in place as eye-catching natural boulders do. The site for the , dubbed 'Mesquite', presented a number of challenges, the most significant being its slope. Denise was a pro at terracing, using dry stack, natural stone retaining walls to create flat spaces to maximize the use of space and drainage. It also provided some erosion control solution while breaking the monotony of the landscape. Ultimately this result was a beautifully integrated outdoor space that brought joy to the clients in the form of a tranquil escape for entertaining family and friends. Denise shows a rich balance of design, material and attention to detail. One great example of the way in which Agua Dulce Gardens re-imagines landscapes within which they transform into lively, ecologically robust, and beautiful outdoor living spaces is the 'Mesquite' .
