The Cousin Collab project involved a creative partnership between two cousins, blending their distinct design preferences to rejuvenate a split-level home in Kansas City, KS. After two decades of ownership, one cousin sought to breathe new life into the space, and together they embarked on an exciting journey to harmonize their styles—one leaning towards ultra-modern aesthetics and the other favoring softer transitional elements. This collaborative effort was focused on ensuring that functionality remained at the forefront while crafting a visually striking environment. The main level underwent a significant transformation, embracing an open layout that seamlessly connects the sitting room and kitchen. This reconfiguration not only enhances the flow of the space but also creates a welcoming atmosphere for gatherings. Central to the kitchen’s design is a large window, which serves as an airy focal point, beautifully framed by hidden ventilation that maintains a clean and uncluttered appearance. The use of full-height custom cabinetry maximizes storage while adding a sense of sophistication to the overall design. The cabinetry features a contemporary finish that complements both cousins' styles, providing a perfect marriage of modern and transitional influences. The bathroom was a standout feature of the project, showcasing a trendy contemporary design with a floating vanity that adds a touch of elegance and practicality.
