Grieff Residence Three-Season Room The Grieff Residence Three-Season Room is a beautiful example of KPS Architecture & Landscape's commitment to creating outdoor living space through good design and craft. Located centrally in West Chester, Ohio, this takes an underutilized area of the home and converts it into an active extension of the living space. The expertly combines a three-season room and the surrounding landscape to create a successful indoor and outdoor environment. The room uses durable and weather-resistant materials such as custom-built cedar framing and high-performance glass paneling to allow year-round use of the room, while promoting energy efficiency. The flooring uses luxurious porcelain tiles that appear like natural stone, while offering the durability members may require in an outdoor space. One challenge was how to integrate the new structure into the existing landscape and address some potential drainage solutions. The team provided a design solution that included grading for drainage and vegetable and flower beds that not only solved possible water issues but improved the overall yard. Natural stone retaining walls and native plantings were used to reflect the architecture of the home and allow seamless movement from the three-season room to the garden. The end result is a beautiful, well-lit space that offers expansive views of the meticulously cultivated garden. Seasonally, clients can enjoy the beauty of nature in a space that reflects their lifestyle.
