About This Project

Glen House in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania by GLDesigns GLDesigns is pleased to present the Glen House outdoor living in beautiful Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania. This features a multi-level patio aimed at providing excellent views of the hills and gardens, as well as an outdoor space for entertainment or relaxation. Working on a slope provided an engineering challenge for our design team, requiring consideration for stability, elevation change, and the form we wanted the patio to take, while keeping in mind the aesthetic qualities we were trying to achieve. Careful planning and designing resulted in a series of retention walls made of locally sourced natural stone, which complemented the organic look of the space while addressing drainage and erosion concerns. The pavers were durable, slip-resistant, natural stone in warm earth tones so that the outdoor space was suited for entertaining guests, rain or shine. To complete the ambiance, a custom fire pit with comfortable seating was added for cozy evenings outside. Strategic plantings of native shrubs and perennials created additional beauty, pulling in local wildlife and creating textures and colors throughout the seasons. The Glen House outdoor living resulted in an impressive space to complement the hillside landscape, while exceeding the client's desires. The blending of functionality and beauty has created a retreat for family gatherings or a space for tranquility.
