The 'Retaining Wall, Steps & Planting' , located in beautiful Kerrville, displays our ability to combine function with beauty. The consisted of a sturdy retaining wall made of natural stone sourced from the local area; a product that was carefully handpicked for strength and beauty. This wall serves a necessary function as a structural element to prevent erosion of soil and also serves as a gorgeous focal feature to the landscape. Our skilled craftsman faced the challenge of an elevation differential across the property, designing the wall to create a smooth transition from the upper garden to the lower patio area. In addition to the wall, we designed a series of steps to invite the homeowners and guests to move in the outdoor area. The steps were also made of the same natural stone selected for the wall, creating a seamless blend into the landscape. Soft lighting was included along the steps to provide safety as well as a warm inviting feel in the evening. In harmony with the idea of biodiversity and sustainability, we also installed a selection of native plants in the planting beds throughout the site. Native plants are known for low maintenance, and are adapted to the local conditions, which is a bonus in the Texas climate, and allows for a little extra color year round. We carefully designed the planting beds using multiple heights and textures to create an interesting layer to the beds, and designed the area to support local wildlife. The final product is a stunning outdoor spaces that reflects the beauty of Texas Hill Country at its finest. Our clients were truly delighted with the end result and appreciated the function as well as the beauty of the design.
