Residential New Build by Native Roots Landscape Located within the picturesque Texas Hill Country, our newest , "Residential New Build," is all finding balance with nature and modern living. Native Roots Landscape aims to design outdoor areas that are beautiful to their surrounding environment and serve the unique purpose of our clients in Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Boerne, San Antonio, and Austin. This was fun, yet challenging, as we took a blank space and turned that space into a beautiful and sustainable landscape that enhanced the architecture of the house and complemented the existing natural topography of the property. We carefully selected drought-tolerant native plants and existing plant life to transition the site into the existing ecosystem. The landscape design contains beautiful plant life, including Texas sage, bluebonnets, and ornamental grasses, which create a visually captivating, but sustainable, low maintenance garden. To create structure and increase usability, the design included natural stone paths and a multi-tiered patio constructed from locally sourced flagstone. This provides an aesthetically appealing gathering space, and functional outdoor living space, that extends the interior of the home. The gentle ambient light added at different locations throughout the landscape accentuates the architecture of the design during the evening creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. One of the ’s most prevalent challenges is the existing slope of the property, which presents drainage issues. Our existing team of skilled professionals and landscape architects adopted a whole system approach to create an effective drainage plan by executing a French drain and incorporating a series of retaining walls, which builds a relationship with drainage, aesthetics, and native terrain. The is gaining attention to create a beautiful environment that lasts, even through rainstorms or heavy rain. Ultimately, the plan mitigates pooling and erosion. The final outcome is a beautiful landscape that accomplishes the desired functions and reflects the clients’ vision while respecting the existing natural beauty of Texas Hill Country. The homeowners are excited to have the outdoor living space they dreamed that improves their quality of life while providing significant property value.
