About This Project

The McElroy Kitchen project in Nashville, Tennessee, exemplifies a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The homeowners, a delightful couple with twin daughters, sought to enhance their existing kitchen while retaining its original layout. Their primary objective was to expand the counter space adjacent to the cooktop, allowing for more efficient meal preparation and family gatherings. To achieve a richer, more inviting atmosphere, the couple opted for darker cabinetry, moving away from the previous honey oak finish. The design process focused on maximizing kitchen height and increasing storage capacity. Every organizational feature was meticulously selected to ensure the space was not only beautiful but also highly functional. The result is a kitchen that offers ample storage solutions, allowing the family to keep their culinary essentials within easy reach while maintaining a tidy environment. During the initial consultation, we identified an awkwardly designed cabinet that attempted to serve as a butler's pantry. Recognizing the potential for improvement, we removed this feature and expanded the area to create a proper butler's pantry. The new pantry blends effortlessly with the overall design, providing additional storage and enhancing the kitchen's functionality. To complement the updated cabinetry and create a cohesive look, we refinished the existing floors. The sanding process eliminated the yellow tones that characterized the original flooring, revealing a more contemporary finish that ties the entire space together. The craftsmanship involved in both the cabinetry and flooring ensures durability and longevity, making this kitchen a lasting family hub. The McElroy Kitchen is now a stunning testament to thoughtful design and meticulous execution, showcasing a perfect balance of elegance and practicality for the busy family.
