About This Project

Shoreline Serenity Located on the peaceful shores of Lake Washington, the completed 'Shoreline Serenity' by Mark S. Garff, Landscape Architect, exemplifies the balance of nature and design. With connections to the dynamic neighborhood of Bainbridge Island, Ballard, Bellevue, and others, this successfully turned a difficult waterfront property into a place of beauty and calm. The design incorporates a variety of native plants for sustainability and to enhance the beauty of the shoreline. A custom stone retaining wall built from locally-sourced granite provides structural stability while also acting as a beautiful design feature. The pathway made of permeable pavers allows rainwater to filter through, drains appropriately, and minimizes runoff, which is necessary for this beautiful yet ecologically sensitive location. One of the greatest hurdles is the steep slope down to the water. Mark S. Garff and the team took it to another level with the design of a tiered garden that stabilizes the soil, creates welcoming terraces, and creates spaces for differ garden beds that use colorful perennials and ornamental grasses that bloom all year. Additionally, the tiered garden provides a picturesque view of the waterfront while providing easy access to the water's edge. The asked for a cozy seating area with hand crafted outdoor wooden benches to enjoy the view of the lake, especially at sunset. Also, boulders were used throughout the that helped to provide seating and fit in with the natural landscape. Upon completion, the homeowner provided compliments to the conclusion of the , and expressed excitement the outdoor space that was not only a great value add to the property, but created a place for the family to organize and enjoy together. Ultimately, this is another finished by Mark S. Garff, Landscape Architect, that demonstrates the quality of craftsmanship and diligence in thoughtful design, in a growing and diverse portfolio of custom Pacific Northwest landscapes.
