The Schindler Abode project represents a remarkable transformation of a once dark and segmented interior into a bright, open, and inviting environment, characterized by modern finishes and thoughtful design. While the original floorplan was preserved, extensive structural modifications were executed to optimize the flow and natural light throughout the space. Notably, the removal of ceiling-mounted kitchen cabinets and the accompanying peninsula, along with a freestanding China hutch, significantly contributed to the openness of the layout. The demolition of most walls between the dining room and foyer, paired with the introduction of French doors leading into the living room, created a seamless transition between areas while maintaining distinct room definitions. Throughout the process, collaboration with the client was paramount, allowing for the exploration and finalization of various optional floor plans that best suited their lifestyle. The selection of cabinetry was made with both aesthetic appeal and functional storage in mind, ensuring that the kitchen and dining areas would be as practical as they are beautiful. A meticulous lighting layout was designed to complement the new floor plan and cabinetry, providing the ideal levels of illumination tailored to the client's preferences. The color palette chosen for the Schindler Abode enhances the newly brightened atmosphere, utilizing a light, warm wide LVT wood plank flooring throughout the space. Soft, light neutral tones on the walls create a serene backdrop, while crisp whites for trim and cabinetry offer a refreshing contrast. Accents of blue and gray in the countertops, backsplash, interior and exterior doors, and decorative quilts introduce subtle pops of color, enriching the overall aesthetic. This harmonious blend of design choices and materials culminates in a stunning outcome, establishing the Schindler Abode as a serene and inviting home that reflects the clients' vision and lifestyle.
