Mountain Landscaping Developed by Full Circle Land Design, LLC, the "Mountain Landscaping" undertaking illustrates the way in which the team combined nature and artistry for their clients located alongside gorgeous terrain of the Chattanooga and surrounding region. The team took on a challenging redesign and enhancement of a beautiful site nestled adjacent to Lookout Mountain, where arresting views met steep banks of local, undeveloped rocky terrain. The showcased a defined master plan comprising of terraced gardens, selections of native plants, impacted stone paths made of locally sourced granite, and the natural slope of the property used to create tiered beds to improve drainage of soil to maintain plant health and aesthetics, as well as increase diversity in plant materials. The use of drought resistant perennials mixed with annual flowers guaranteed that the client's lovely property was always vibrant, while maintaining minimal water consumption. Due to the steep slope and rocky substrate typical of the area, there were some limitations to create usable but visually appealing spaces throughout the site. The landscape architects successfully overcame this limitation with innovative solutions, and possibly most prominently the retaining walls which were made of natural boulders and would create spaces usable by people while feeling and functioning naturally in the landscape. In addition to improving the usability of the site, this method further reinforced the steep embankments, as well provide additional planting space for an array of various plants and gardens. The end result was a remarkable outdoor paradise that fulfilled an obvious vision for the clients. A winding path invites visitors to explore garden pockets, while seating provided idyllic spots to relax and appreciate the nature surrounding it. Careful consideration and selection of sustainable practices and native materials informs the impact of this , as good design recognizes environmental stewardship and by doing so the design is not only visually pleasing but remains sensitive to the surrounding ecosystem in its most natural state.
