About This Project

In this transformative project, the family room in Wexford was enhanced through the addition of a custom-built wet bar and tailored storage solutions surrounding the existing brick fireplace. The original layout included an outdated built-in situated between the fireplace and a small closet, which contained a sink. To optimize functionality and aesthetics, these elements were carefully removed, allowing for the creation of a more spacious and harmonious environment. The design emphasizes symmetry, featuring cabinetry that seamlessly integrates both hidden and open shelf storage. On the left side, the newly designed wet bar showcases a beautiful tiled backsplash and a sleek quartz countertop, all concealed behind full-height pocketing doors. This thoughtful design choice not only adds elegance but also functionality, making it perfect for entertaining guests. On the right side, another set of pocketing doors reveals three large drawers along with additional overflow toy storage for the adjacent playroom, enhancing the family's ability to keep the space organized and clutter-free. Adding to the visual appeal, bookshelves flank the fireplace, providing a dedicated area for displaying cherished items while offering further storage solutions beneath. To create a cohesive look, a neutral color palette was selected, balancing the rich wood tones and the multi-tonal red brick of the fireplace. Complementary textures and colors were introduced through playful wallpaper lining the backs of the shelves and a stylish hexagon backsplash tile. Finishing touches such as a new fireplace faceplate, gallery lighting, and cabinet hardware in a dark metal finish contribute to the overall sophistication of the design. This built-in wet bar and storage project not only enhances the functionality of the family room but also elevates its aesthetic appeal, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both relaxation and social gatherings. The outcome is a beautifully integrated space that reflects the family's needs and style, making it a perfect addition to their home.
