Xeriscape & Native Garden with Waterfall by My Garden: Landscape Design by Wayne Located in Southern California, the is called 'Xeriscape & Native Garden, with Waterfall' and a collaboration between My Garden: Landscape Design by Wayne, incorporates sustainable practices and natural beauty. Water stewardship and the use of natural elements and sustainability are important themes, and this serves the stakeholder across an area from Aliso Viejo to Santa Barbara. The design, in alignment with the water stewardship philosophy, incorporates a selection of native plants that can withstand droughts to be used in the correct climate, including California poppies, lavender and sage. These brilliant natives can installed in an unusual way that can use less water and draw beneficial pollinators to the area. Pathways and boulders added as part of the design provide more visual textures and depth, while providing easy accessibility to move through the garden. The waterfall is one of the highlights of this . The waterfall was created using locally sourced stones to create a waterfall that flows into a small pond. The sounds of the water bring a meditation or relaxation type experience. The waterfall serves to not only improve the visual aspects of the overall aesthetic design but also provides habitat for local wildlife like birds and other small animals that benefit in the use of the water resource. As with every , the waterfall trying to integrate with the xeriscape design in maintaining a natural look was a challenge. However, the crew were able to work to resolve the challenge with patience and thought into the planning and executing to balance the design features. The end result suited what the client was looking for and created quite a feature for the community to admire. The itself provides My Garden with a showcase for their sustainable landscape design, and broadens interest for quality work and designs as a concept throughout the region. It is hoped that the xeriscape and waterfall garden serves as inspiration for homeowners across the area to try new gardening and water stewardship s.
