Clients Looking to Eliminate a Pool Heather Moll-Dunn Landscape and Garden Design undertook this exciting in the Atlanta metro area, transforming a residential backyard that had features of an old, unkempt swimming pool. Rather than having an area dominated by a large, empty swimming pool, we were offered the opportunity to create a beautiful outdoor space that the clients wanted and dreamed of for so many years. The initial stage of the involved consulting with the clients regarding their hopes of having a more livable outdoor space. After we walked the area and assessed site, we suggested to the clients to remove the large, outdated swimming pool, so we could go ahead and design a mixed garden space for the property. Because we knew the pool area was going to be transformed into a garden space, we took our time to select durable and sustainable materials. From sourced natural stone pathways, to regional plantings, to biodegradable mulch - we ensured quality and longevity in our design. We constructed a beautiful tiered garden of native perennials, native herbs, and ornamental grasses that attracts pollinators, as well as provides much-needed interest during the winter months. As with any , we met challenges head on - and in this case, the drainage from the pool area. Heather Moll-Dunn Landscape and Garden Design utilized your landscape architect, along with our sub-contractors, to design a drainage system that effectively drained water away from the original pool site and created a viable ecosystem for the new garden space.
