About This Project

Ridge Valley by Sundown Gardens Ridge Valley is a gorgeous outdoor that embodies the natural beauty of Indiana and the distinctive landscaping style of Sundown Gardens. We had the opportunity to work with the families all over the communities of Carmel, Fishers, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Sheridan, Westfield, Williams Creek, and Zionsville. We took a typical backyard and transformed it into an outdoor sanctuary. The included native vegetation, drought-tolerant shrubs, and ornamental trees in a landscape that could thrive in our climate. A path of natural stone was added with locally sourced limestone to lead into beautiful sitting areas with custom built cedar benches. A natural water feature, including a flowing waterfall, was planned and installed so the sound of the water would bring the local wildlife and provide a peaceful escape from the busy world outside. The property had a noticeable slope. One of the overall challenges for the design was balancing the appearance of the gardens with effective drainage from the irrigation systems and the grade of the land. The Sundown Gardens team managed these challenges with tiered garden beds built with durable timber retaining walls. Each tiered garden bed has a selection of perennials that bloom at different seasons throughout the year. The finished result of Ridge Valley was a stunning landscape that both echoed the architectural style of the home and created a welcoming space for family gatherings and quiet time spent with nature. The homeowners were pleased and surprised that we took such care in regard to sustainability and detail with buildings and plants; Ridge Valley exceeded their expectations.
