Modern Retreat by Quality Green Landscaping The 'Modern Retreat' , located in Coachella Valley, is a perfect example of what Quality Green Landscaping is capable of - creativity and detail. Serving the beautiful areas of Bermuda Dunes, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Thousand Palms, this was meant to create an outdoor retreat with modern aesthetics intertwined with the natural landscape. Initially, the client asked for a space that could be used as a retreat to relax and entertain. The team of Quality Green Landscaping took on a comprehensive site analysis to understand the existing irrigated landscape and take advantage of the opportunities. The major challenge with the site was to integrate a slope to make the usable yard a multi-level area while maintaining drainage and accessibility. As a first step, we used tiered landscaping with outstanding, sustainably sourced boulders and natural rocks to develop the rustic retaining walls. The walls created strong sections for the landscape and contained the slope. Once we utilized the opportunity to break up the landscape we added lush native plantings that grew well in the desert climate such as agave, desert marigold, and ornamental grass that provide texture and color throughout the year. Beyond planting selections we incorporated a modern patio with large-format porcelain tiles contrasting the natural rocky features. This included space for lounging and outdoor table dining, alongside a custom fire pit integrated within the patio area. The evening retreat was enhanced with ambient lighting throughout the landscape that is noticeable after sunset. Water conservation is always part of our process. We incorporated a sophisticated irrigation system, utilizing drip technology. This ensured that we were able to take advantage of Mother Nature's beauty and create a sustainable ecosystem that offered an aesthetic quality. Upon completion, the client was so happy with the transformation. The 'Modern Retreat' became an incredible form and function lifestyle retreat.
