Nestled in the heart of Mill Valley, this transformative project showcases the remarkable evolution of a 1960s home, artfully designed to harmonize with its challenging forested setting. Led by Holder Parlette's principal architect, Chris Parlette, the design process was a thoughtful response to the constraints posed by the towering redwoods and limited footprint of the property. A vertical design approach was adopted, allowing for an innovative reconfiguration of the lower floor, which included the strategic relocation of the kitchen. This decision not only enhanced functionality but also introduced a captivating glass-encased gas insert fireplace that serves as a stunning room divider, fostering an inviting atmosphere among the living spaces. A standout feature of the project is the two-story glass wall at the rear of the home, which has become the centerpiece of this transformation. This architectural choice floods the interior with natural light while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. The upstairs space was also revitalized, with a refreshed primary bedroom and bath that exude modern elegance.
