Sandia Heights by Waterwise Landscapes Incorporated Waterwise Landscapes Incorporated recently completed a residential landscape in the beautiful Sandia Heights. We delivered a remarkable transformation that combined aesthetics with function in order to create a peaceful retreat using drought resistant native planting, flagstone paths, and custom rock features to show off the amazing view of the Sandia Mountains. The most unique aspect of the had been the xeriscape garden that was custom designed based on New Mexico's inherent dry desert climate. We focused on careful selection of native plants like Blue Grama Grass and Desert Marigold to limit water usage but also appeal to the eye. Careful consideration was also placed on the use of materials. We utilized locally sourced flagstone to create durable features, and to bridge the home and the landscape, it complemented the surrounding natural areas very well. The had its challenges such as a steep slope of the terrain and limited access for machinery. But our landscape construction team challenged the obstacles using careful planning and innovative problem solving. Sensitive areas were addressed with hand-tools only and erosion control methods were put in place at some sites to improve, and maintain, the integrity of the landscape. In the end, we reached the transformation everyone's goals desired; a breathtaking outdoor space that incorporated the inviting, sustainable and beautiful part of Sandia Heights. The homeowner was absolutely elated with their new landscape that enhanced their value while providing a space for family gatherings and use of the outdoors in a way the homeowner never took advantage of before.
