The design + engineering behind this aspiration Lacks a waterfall element that cascades into the zoo's rich landscape to improve the experience of visitors and wildlife alike. Using the finest quality natural stone available locally, we constructed a multi-tiered waterfall flowing into a pond. This design is not only like a visual focus line but also a habitat for some aquatic creatures. The water sounds bring a peaceful vibe while pausing for guests to enjoy the calm surroundings. The faced several challenges associated with the existing topography, which required thoughtful design and a clever approach to engineering to stabilize and maintain safe work conditions. At our firm, we had the unique opportunity to work with the zoo's management team to create a design that satisfied visual appeal needs and environmentally mandated restrictions by their landscape architects. The completed features sunny local climate-appropriate native plants around the waterfall that help support biodiversity. LED ambient lighting has been used to beautify the waterfall after sunset when the magic becomes even more captivating during all hours of visitation. In summary, Devore indeed builds a better waterfall as evidenced in the Cincinnati Zoo Waterfall and proves once again his commitment to quality and stewardship of our environment. Successfully completed, this has not only really thrilled zoo goers but raised the bar on landscaping in the public realm as well by highlighting the habitats found in Ohio, the beauty of the region's natural landscapes and supporting the Cincinnati Zoo mission.
