The Wallingford Renovation was a special that highlighted our commitment to quality and creativity, serving homeowners in different areas of Ballard, Beacon Hill, Clyde Hill, Medina, Mercer Island, North Beacon Hill and Seattle. This particular renovation involved the complete redesign of a residential garden that had fallen into disrepair, was overgrown, and was not cohesive. We began by meeting with the homeowners for an in-depth consultation where we could discuss their vision, budget, and lifestyle. We made it a point to be both sustainable and aesthetically please by incorporating native plant species that would prosper in the Pacific Northwest climate, while keeping maintenance to a minimum and allowing color and season variations all year round. The pièce de résistance of the Wallingford was a flagstone patio that blended seamlessly into the garden and surrounding landscape. We sourced the stone locally, and not only does it create a welcoming space for gatherings but it ties in with the home's architecture beautifully. Our craftsmen carefully laid out and leveled the stone to make sure it fit properly and will last for generations. Also, on the property we faced the challenge of a very uneven slope. To remedy this, we designed tiered garden beds that added interest and created useful planting areas for herbs, flowers and vegetables. The reclaimed wood we used to make the garden beds offered a rustic look while maintaining sustainability. In keeping with a sustainable outcome, we created a rain garden for stormwater management on the property. Additionally, while we had boarded on the we uncovered some strange soil drainage issues, but through a well-designed French drain system, we were able to successfully divert water from the foundation and fix a future problem that could have been more catastrophic in and around the new landscaping. The Wallingford renovation turned out beautifully, and the clients were extremely pleased with the final outcome. The patio, plantings, and use of natural materials made for a lovely cohesive spaceideal for their enjoyment and entertainment. It was rewarding to see the client's excitement and satisfaction with the results; their vision came to life.
