About This Project

Suburban Xeriscaping Our Suburban Xeriscaping set an example of sustainable landscaping in one of the many communities surrounding our unique Texas city which includes Barton Creek, Hays, and Lost Creek and the work was completed by Blissful Gardens & Green Dragon Design. This exciting revived a traditional suburban garden and turned it into a beautiful, water-sustainable space to decorate, relax and save some of our most valuable resources! Using Texas sage, agave and ornamental grasses, the design featured native drought-tolerant plants that provide a myriad of beautiful but hardy options. We constructed permeable pathways using local flagstone and gravel to ensure proper drainage and to minimize runoff is also very important to showcase the abundance of plant life. That goes not only with green practice, but also adds some cozy rustic touch on the landscape. One of our biggest obstacles was dealing with the site soil which was extremely compacted and not really conducive for planting. We diligently mixed organic compost into the soil to retain moisture and air so our new plantings would grow. Furthermore, we have also introduced a drip irrigation system that reduces the wastage of water and keeps the moisture only at the roots, which complements the xeriscaping aspects. This result is a cohesive landscape that allows for the natural environment to be the star of the show while providing a low-maintenance solution for the homeowners. Not only do the bold colors and textures wow anyone who strolls along the street but this space also becomes a calm escape for the family. We gained the gratitude of our clients who thoroughly enjoyed their refreshed space, complimenting our ability to harmonize utility and aesthetics. Not only does this showcase our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship but also highlights our continuing mission to be sustainability ambassadors for the communities we serve.
