Info: Xeriscape Garden w/ Mosaic Walkway Built by Pflugerville, TX: Blissful Gardens & Green Dragon Design We have installed a xeriscape garden with a mosaic walkway in the heart of Texas Hill Country. We serve families and business in Austin, Barton Creek, Hays, and many other vibrant communities. We have turned a traditional lawn into an artistic and sustainable space that will both thrive in the local climate and minimize water consumption. The xeriscape garden featured many drought-tolerant plants, including native grasses and succulents and flowering perennials. The variety of plants was selected based on two major criteria nature’s ability to withstand the severe climate and the plant’s reflective colors. Besides, the garden was complemented by an intricate walkway built from locally-sourced materials, both the reclaimed stone and the bright ceramic tiles. The pathway leads through the garden, inviting to explore its beauty and to learn more the plants. The biggest challenge was addressing the heavy clay soil that might prevent proper drainage and thus growth of the plants. To tackle the challenge, we graded the soil following a specific pattern and combined it with an extensive variety of organic amendments. Moreover, the soil was equipped with a drip irrigation system that was designed to absorb the local flora and subtly wither and nourish the plants without wasting the water. The final result has exceeded the customer’s expectations. Irreversible water usage in the garden also contributes to environmental sustainability and the biodiversity promotion mission. The garden and the walkway perfectly reflect the beauty of Texas flora. Furthermore, the customers can now spend their free time outdoors in the vibrant footage and enjoy picnics and relaxation event in the shadow of the surrounding plants.
