With a wish list that included a beautiful outdoor retreat, the client and and their design team came together to create a purposeful, site-appropriate design that fits perfectly with the existing architecture of the home. We kicked off with a site-specific assessment, which included challenges such as difficulty terrain gear because of uneven ground and compact soil. After the earth had been expertly graded, we had the best topsoil incorporated to provide the best potential for drainage and a stable foundation for good plant production. A varied selection of native perennials and ornamental grasses provides a lush, sustainable landscape that works with the climate. Natural bluestone (locally sourced) was used to create a beautiful stone pathway that is both a practical and aesthetically pleasing passage way through the garden. We included decorative boulders and natural wood features that have the dual benefit of enriching aesthetics and increasing biodiversity. A custom fire pit area rounded out the space, providing a warm gathering place for family and friends. By maintaining quality in all aspects, we created an outdoor space that is a true picture perfect escape. The end product was not just pleasing to the client, but blended itself to its surroundings left behind a sweet remembrance of Plainfield.
