Stonewood Drive, Sherman Oaks By: Weeds Garden Design Build LLC In Sherman Oaks, Weeds Garden Design Build LLC turned a typical backyard space into a stunning outdoor space at Stonewood Drive. This demonstrates our commitment to quality and creativity, where there is a wonderful combination of natural materials and modern design. The landscape contains a striking grouping of drought-tolerant plants, which we selected and arranged to produce year-round color and texture. We selected sustainable native shrubs and succulents to both beautify the space and encourage environmentally-friendly behaviors of the homeowner. Our team of builders chose high quality materials, including locally sourced stone for the walkways and the custom-built patio - the focal point for gathering outdoors. The most challenging aspect of this landscape was managing a slope, and we did that with a tiered garden. This tiered treatment created interest and drainage, which has a role in the sustainability of the landscape. We also constructed retaining walls, made from natural stone, and managed the delicate balance between having functional walls and creative design practice. The end result is a balanced landscape that reflects the existing architecture and provides an oasis from the busy urban life. The client was pleased with what we had accomplished for them and that we had the right amount of beauty along with practicality.
