Sustainable Costa Mesa Introducing 'Sustainable Costa Mesa,' a landscaping that is all creating your outdoor space, brought to you by Camille Beehler Landscape Design, with Camille Beehler proudly out of Costa Mesa. We set out to build a sustainable retreat that embraces theserene Southern California climate while considering the client's need for beauty with low lows need high maintenance. In the landscape renovation, a combination of original native drought-tolerant plantsincluding California poppies, succulents, and ornamental grasseswas employed throughout the to blend both an aesthetic and biodiversity lifestyle. We opted for a high-tech drip irrigation system to waste as little water as possible while assuring every single plant never goes thirsty. Instead, the pathways consist of permeable pavers that let rainwater drain down through the pavers and into the ground below, promoting a natural flow through the space and mitigating the heat island effect from the surrounding buildings. It was an opportunity of beautifying a space that was hardscape dominated where the existing hardscape contributed to the limited absorption of water, and erosion. We turned it into a green garden full of plants, something that revives the place and other living beings, where we creatively remove everything, so that they all become useful and progress towards environmental sustainability through maintenance initiatives and concern for the condition of roads in the area that makes the house look clean and the environment. Working directly with the client, we chose materials such as reclaimed wood and local gravel that are both sustainable and durable, to decrease the materials' environmental footprint while delivering a low maintenance end product. The end product is a stunning environment that perfectly balances practicality with nature. The client was so happy with the new look that they said they could now call it their own outdoor oasis to cater towards their lifestyle and values.
