Washington Park | Folia Horticultural + DesignWork | Recent s Located in the center of Washington Park in Seattle, Washington Park is the embodiment of excellence and landscape innovation that Folia Horticultural + Design aimed for. This huge garden behind a house has been completely redesigned, mixing functionality with nature by our team. The layout included a range of native plants designed to be resilient and appropriate for the local climate. We blended these complementary themes with a vibrant palette of ferns, ornamental grasses and perennials, creating an ever-changing tapestry that responds to each season. We included a beautiful flagstone path meandering through the garden that ends with a custom built seating area nestled amongst the gorgeous fragrance of the surrounding flower garden; an area where one can sit and smell the roses! The most troublesome of these was the topological diversity of site, which stood in way of our creativity, demanding out of the box drainage solutions to avoid washing off landscapes. To resolve this, we designed a grade plan and installed permeable paversall without disrupting the grades of the land. Working with quality, sustainable materials such as local stone and natural soil amendments allowed our team to create a stunning installation that encourages environmental healing. The end result was a stunning garden that fits beautifully in with the neighboring landscape and gives the homeowners a place an oasis akin to the feel of a sane space literally 2 seconds from their front door! The clients have been gushing the Washington Park and the way their design has been seamlessly integrated into the landscape. With its lively plantings and accessible walkthroughs, this is a prime example of Folia Horticultural + Design's commitment to building functional, aesthetic landscapes that maintain beauty while improving livability for residents across the greater Seattle area including Ballard, Bellevue, Kirkland and well beyond.
