About This Project

The Cambronne St Residence project showcases a meticulous renovation of a charming Craftsman style single shotgun house located in New Orleans, LA. This thoughtful transformation involved a significant reconfiguration of the home's interior spaces, primarily focusing on the kitchen and dining room. By removing the wall that separated these two areas, we successfully created a more expansive and inviting atmosphere that encourages both functionality and social interaction. To maintain a level of organization while minimizing kitchen clutter, a custom-designed low wall was introduced between the kitchen and dining room. This wall is elegantly finished with pre-finished wood flooring, seamlessly integrating with the overall aesthetic of the home. In the dining area, which also serves as a cozy sitting space, we prioritized maximizing functionality through bespoke design elements. A custom banquette dining area was crafted, featuring a built-in storage bench that provides practical storage solutions while enhancing the room's charm. The banquette is complemented by custom-upholstered bench cushions, offering comfort and style. Additionally, a uniquely designed dining table was fabricated to complete this inviting nook, making it the perfect spot for gatherings and meals. To further elevate the sense of openness and airiness throughout the residence, we removed the existing suspended ceilings, revealing the impressive height of the original ceilings. This decision not only enhances the visual appeal but also contributes to improved natural light flow within the spaces. The large old wood windows were meticulously rehabilitated to preserve their character, and lightweight cafe curtains were installed throughout the house, adding a soft touch while allowing for privacy and sunlight. The culmination of these design choices and craftsmanship results in a harmonious blend of modern functionality and historical charm, making the Cambronne St Residence a truly unique living space that resonates with warmth and character.
