Garden Pavilion - A Potting Shed in Harmony! In California's renowned Central Coast, the Garden Pavilion documents the design sensitivities and craftsmanship of Jeffrey Gordon Smith Landscape Architecture. Marked as a potting shed that connects harmoniously with the context, the pavilion was designed to maximize the site. The Garden Pavilion is the product of thoughtful planning and function. The pavilion is constructed with sustainably-sourced cedar wood to support durability and the refreshing green tones of the garden space. The Design includes custom workspaces and shelving from reclaimed materials, as supported by the firm. One of the challenges of the involved grading considerations, as the graded slopes might have created water pooling around the pavilion. Planning for drainage, the team graded the landscape with flow in mind without altering the natural pitch of the landscape. Native and drought-resistant planting surrounds the pavilion to create beauty and low-maintenance, environmentally beneficial conditions. The result is a beautiful balance of form and function. The Garden Pavilion is a site to contemplate gardening in a serene setting, with large windows inviting in natural light while providing views out to the gardens around. Natural-stone pathways lead to the Garden Pavilion to encourage transition and feelings of calmness to which the owner can be inspired. The client expressed genuine delight with the transformation, specifically mentioning happy moments spent working, gardening, and relaxing in and around the new Garden Pavilion.
