About This Project

Seattle Contemporary Planting Olander Garden Design is excited to introduce the 'Seattle Contemporary Planting' , a that will give a new definition of landscaping in outdoor environments at urban lifestyles found in Seattle and surrounding neighborhoods such as Bainbridge Island, Ballard, and Bellevue. The embodies Olander Garden's high standards of craftsmanship and creativity. The client wanted to create a modern, low-maintenance garden that integrates with their contemporary home and the beautiful location of the Pacific Northwest. The team selected an entire range of native plants that are well adapted to the local climate, such as ferns, grasses, and drought-tolerant perennials, all to create year-round intrigue and interest from early greenery in spring, to unique colors in the fall. One of the most difficult conditions to deal with was the topography of the site. The team decided on a tiered planting design that utilizes natural stone retaining walls; these retaining walls serve as design features of the garden while providing functional design. Water-saving practices were put in place and incorporated a drip irrigation system to engage and protect plants while conserving water. Using high-quality materials such as boulders from a local quarry and reclaimed timber for raised beds, the urban garden showcases design quality. The builders also constructed custom features such as a modern fire pit with seating for groups to gather, entertain, and spend time. In this , we achieved an outdoor oasis that replicated beauty, programming, and functionality. The client was delighted with the end result and said the space now provides a comfortable space to go to as a retreat, as well as an inviting space for guests.
