About This Project

Outdoor Kitchen for Greenwich Rock Spring Design Group LLC, with principal David Verespy, ASLA at the helm, has created the Outdoor Kitchen in Greenwicha stunning combination of function and natural landscape that reorganizes outdoor living. Located in Greenwich's historic district, this captures the essence of dining outside, while beautifully incorporating the surroundings. The design includes a remarkable outdoor kitchen clad in stone which incorporates all of the most sought-after appliances; including a built-in grill, refrigerator, and generous granite countertops. The centerpiece of the design is a custom wooden pergola that provides shade while enhancing aesthetics, and is decorated with climbing vines to create a living, green top. The finishing touch is beautiful, durable, rustic interlocking pavers that evoke the charm of natural stone without degrading from wind and weather. A primary challenge here was the uneven site condition, which needed refinement with grading and planning to provide a level kitchen area. We were able to install a habitat of retaining walls with boulders collected from the local quarry. This serves to stabilize the landscape and enrich visual interest. Drainage was also resolved, with a subtle drainage system designed to move water away from the outdoor kitchen, nourishing the surrounding landscape bedsthat's a win-win! Surrounding the outdoor kitchen are numerous perennial gardens featuring native plants, which provide color throughout the seasons while welcoming beneficial insects and pollinators. A fire pit, with kid-friendly seating, provides opportunity for warm, cozy nights; outdoor lighting brings an extra touch of magic to evening meals. Ultimately, the result exceeds the client’s aspirations: a vision of amazing outdoor space for tailoring entertaining and enjoying nature. The Outdoor Kitchen reflects Rock Spring Design Group LLC's commitment to craftsmanship and imaginative design, and has become a much-loved retreat for the homeowners, and beloved to the Greenwich community.
